Ostgut Ton goes House again. “Turn Around” is the first single from the forthcoming album Serenity released on January 28th 2008. Prosumer and Murat Tepeli are on top form with this teaser. “Turn Around”, based on a mid tempo House groove, unfolds an endearing pillow talk between Prosumer and female singer Elif Biçer. When have you last heard a Vocal House track so coy and exempt from irony in a while?
On the flip, Cassy augments the beats with a good measure of pressure, cutting up the vocals, adding her own voice and arranging it all in such a way, her remix turns into a pumping darkroom dub for the moments without time and space. She creates a kind of hypnosis you never want to awaken from again. Pure magic.
Southbound|Pink Flamingos is not only MyMy's debut release on Ostgut Ton, it also is the first full 12" release after their critically acclaimed album Songs For The Gentle on Playhouse in October 2006. And who else but Lee Jones and Panorama Bar resident Nick Höppner could sum up the probably most beautiful, recent House sound?
With this 12", MyMy move away from their narrative trademark sound. Instead of a rather techy style, the duo wades kneedeep through Deephouse territory. In doing so, MyMy successfully pick up the threads their Butterflies & Zebras EP on Aus Music in 2006 left behind: They deliver two percussive, swinging House tools with irresistible grooves unflinchingly carrying dancers through the night, seemingly effortless. Both tracks are equally timeless; like purring siamese cats, Pears soap and old Prescription records put together. This is Gentlemen's music .

What is house music? A question that keeps coming up for decades now. Our catalogue number 14 has been produced by Tama Sumo and Prosumer collaboratively. At the same time it marks the first release ever by Tama Sumo, whose DJ career started in 1993. When Tama claims “Bass makes you happy!,” then this is not only true for her very funky sunday afternoon sets as a resident at Berlin's Panorama Bar, but it also applies to both tracks born out of her friendship with Achim ‘Prosumer’ Brandenburg. “Play Up” and “Brothers, Sisters”: Two tracks reminiscent of Trax. Kickdrums and basslines dig deep; funky, short quitar licks lead up to breaks after which arms fly to heaven and sweat drips from the ceiling. Prosumer just knows how to create those special moments by using only a few select, simple elements. A technique, Tama Sumo is , as it seems, familiar with as well. You can call it the everlasting laws of the old school!
The second installment of our Berghain mix cd series has been mixed and compiled by Marcel Dettmann. We are releasing four exclusive tracks Marcel has used for his mix exclusively on vinyl in advance as a two part set. Part I features tracks by Shed and Tobias.
Berlin based Shed has established himself by releasing tracks on labels such as Delsin, Styrax and his own imprint Soloaction since 2004. His style strongly focuses on the essential soul of Detroit Techno without protecting acquired possessions. Shed seems to glow from the inside with a sort of euphoria as if it's 1993 again. But it’s 2008 and Shed’s music sounds as un-nostalgic as it sounds right. “Warped Mind” has all the ingredients to warm your heart: Chords, lovely pads and cut up vocals. Joyful stuff, not only for people holding dear their Chez Damier and Ron Trent records.
Tobias. aka Tobias Freund provides the B side, “Balance”. Since the early 90s he is shaping electronic music as Pink Elln and as part of projects like nsi., Sieg über die Sonne and Odd Machine. Under his Tobias. pseudonym he currently delivers his most direct club tools as his contribution here is proving once again. “Balance” is a slowly building percussion monster showing that it sometimes only needs the smallest rhythmical shifts for an overwhelming effect. Hypnotic, bass heavy, great!

The second installment of our Berghain mix cd series has been mixed and compiled by Marcel Dettmann. We are releasing four exclusive tracks Marcel has used for his mix exclusively on vinyl in advance as a two part set. Part II features tracks by Norman Nodge and Samuli Kemppi.
Norman Nodge not only is a dad and a lawyer, he also is both a resident DJ at Berghain and a producer. Last year, he has released “NN 3.0” on Marcel Dettmann's label MDR, an unbelievably cool and fresh sounding oldschool Techno track. A vibe, he easily picks up on “Native Rhythm Electric”, with subtle, rhythmic modulations, analog hiss, and a reduced, well dirty sound design.
Samuli Kemppi from Finland contributes “Vangel”, probably the most direct and kicking track in our double pack. Kemppi releases since 2002 and also runs the project Sam & Gigi with 12"es on Ovum and Still Music under its belt. “Vangel” is 100% pure Techno, a ‘Strum & Drang’ track heralding a rave apocalypse by using a massive bell riff.
Marcel Fengler provides two new tracks for this Ostgut Ton release. Having just moved to Berlin, the producer displays two different sides to his abilities. There's one primetime Techno banger and one more experimental cut allowing for a growing Dubstep influence.
“Friction” obviously is meant for any bigger Techno dancefloor. It is a self assured DJ tool in the vein of “Playground”, Fengler's debut on O-TON 09, and his recent remix for Vidab, which both keep a perfect balance between deepness and peaktime energy. The difference between a progressice synth pattern and a warm finish creates the friction that makes this track so exciting.
“Yaki“ on the B side sees Marcel experimenting. It is his first track ever featuring a broken beat. Accompanied by noisy fragments and dark, industrial Sytnh stabs, this track remains deeply rooted in the Berghain sound. This track marks the first step into this territory, both for Fengler and Ostgut Ton.

Ostgut Ton heads for the summer with a new 12" by Prosumer & Murat Tepeli. This time the duo has Soundstream and his “Dusty Machine Mix” of “Serenity” on board. His deep and hypnotic remix captures the sound and atmosphere of Prosumer & Murat Tepeli's album and leaves enough room for melancholy, playfulness and bassy grooves.
As a bonus there is the vocal mix of the album track “Believe”. It casts a spell by delaying the climax. The interplay of measured chords, a driving bassline and ecstatic melodic sequences make for an emotional journey on the dancefloor and through the night.
To round things off this EP includes “Serenity” which had previously been available on CD only. It carries us out into a world of balance and inner peace. Pure serenity!
